UV Ink and Coating Printing

In today’s world of instant gratification, the only way to hold your readers’ attention is to grab it right away. Our specialty UV coatings do just that.

UV vs. Traditional

Traditional printing means using a solvent-based ink on a surface and waiting for it to dry. UV printing dries the ink immediately by just putting it under an ultraviolet light. That process is:

  • Fast: This is the obvious one. Because we force the ink to dry, we can print that much faster.
  • Green: Because the ink isn’t left out to dry for long, very few chemicals are released into the air.
  • Cost-Effective: UV printing is fast, and time is money. We also don’t need to apply any costly aqueous coatings.

Our cutting-edge coatings and techniques can produce incredible sensory effects, and they’re easy for most commercial printers to handle. Our Sakurai Spot and overall UV coater can cover anything up to 28″ x 40″ sheets, and we always provide tight registration and even coverage for a great finish.

Types of UV Coatings

  • Gloss/Matte Contrast: Gloss coatings give a high level of sheet, while matte coatings create a dull effect. Both are great on their own, but why not put them together? Combining these two technologies maximizes contrast, making the glossy areas jump out at the viewer.

  • Raised or Embossed: Here, we use a special type of high-viscosity UV ink and apply it in a heavy pattern. The effect is not unlike mechanical embossing, and it produces incomparable gloss, clarity and protection.

  • Texture: We can apply a textured finished either in spots or over entire areas to create the feel of everything from frosted glass to leather.

  • Glitter: Finely cut squared of metalized film make the perfect complement to many raised or embossed finishes. We can apply an emboss/glitter combination to a thickness in excess of 5 mils to produce spectacular gloss and clarity.

  • Pearlescent: In combination with a gloss coating, a little bit of a shimmering pearlized compound produces personalized effects with unique colors, shapes and dimensions. This rich, pearly finish works wonders with embossed and specially engineered UV Coatings.

Perfect Design with UV Light

Ultraviolet treatment is a powerful technique, but it approaches perfection when it’s combined with other great finishing touches. We’re here to create something extraordinary, and that means using every technique we can in the name of design.
